GIAN LUCA LASTRAIOLI

 

 

 

Gian Luca Lastraioli was born in Florence in 1957.

 

 

Since starting his professional career as lutenist and theorbist in 1982, he has participated in a great number of concerts and early music festivals in Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Israel, Great Britain, New Zealand, and Brasil.

During his career Gian Luca Lastraioli has played in prestigious venues such as La Scala of Milan, the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, and the Teatro della Pergola of Florence, joining well known ensembles specialized in the performance of the Renaissance and Baroque repertoire such as The Harp Consort, the baroque orchestra Modo Antiquo, Pro Cantione Antiqua, the Fitzwilliam String Quartet and the ensemble L'Homme Armé.

 

 

In 1993 he founded the Gran Consort Li Stromenti, a large ensemble specialized in the performance of the Italian Renaissance instrumental repertoire.

Gian Luca Lastraioli has recorded over forty CD's with the most important European recording labels among which the first world recordings of the Medici Ballet Suites by Lorenzo Allegri and of the early 17th Century opera L’Aurora Ingannata by Girolamo Giacobbi with his own ensemble Gran Consort Li Stromenti.

 

 

With soprano Santina Tomasello he has focused on the study and the performance of Italian Renaissance repertoire for lute and voice, always obtaining brilliant responses from the most varied audiences and constantly receiving outstanding press rewievs. The CD Il libro di canto e liuto di Cosimo Bottegari Fiorentino released in 2001 has been described by the specialized press as a “real theatre of  emotions”.

Gian Luca Lastraioli is lute teacher at the Conservatorio di Musica Scontrino of Trapani (Italy) and at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole. Moreover he is Maestro of the Cappella di Santa Maria degli Angiolini of Florence
